Lumecca Treatment Timeline

Consultation

We offer a complimentary consultation where you will have a face to face assessment with your doctor or nurse. Each consultation will explain how it works and what you can expect from treatment. We will then review your past medical history to ensure you are suitable and safe for the treatment.

Treatment day

Our experienced practitioners will answer any questions you have, and only when you are comfortable and ready, will your treatment start. Your first appointment for Lumecca with us will be a Patch test. During treatment there will be a bright flash of light from Lumecca, and a sensation on your skin that feels like a light snap from an elastic band. Following a successful patch test, you are then able to begin a course of treatment.

Aftercare and recovery

Redness and a slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and usually subside within an hour. Over the next 24-48 hours you may see a darkening of pigmented spots; in the week afterwards the pigmented lesions flake off, leading to an evening out of skin tone. After treating vascular lesions you may see the vein blanch and disappear or a colour change in the vessel which dissipates after a few days.

Top-ups and future treatments

An improved skin appearance can be noted after the first session. Multiple sessions provide even better results. Treatment regime depends on the severity of skin damage, skin type, type of treatment (vascular vs sun damage) and energy settings. Your practitioner will provide a detailed treatment plan for you.

Lumecca Price List

Lumecca is the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. After just one use, patients notice significant improvements in the complexion and clarity of the skin. Lumecca operates using photothermolysis, which provides a photofacial through the delivery of a comfortable light treatment.

What are the Benefits of Lumecca?

Improves Skin Tone and Clarity

Lumecca IPL effectively reduces hyperpigmentation, age spots, and sun damage, leading to a more even and clear complexion.

Minimises Fine Lines and Wrinkles

The treatment stimulates collagen production, which helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improving skin texture and firmness.

Non-Invasive with Minimal Downtime

The procedure is non-invasive, involving no needles or incisions, and typically requires minimal downtime, allowing patients to resume their daily activities quickly.

Reduces Redness and Rosacea

It helps in diminishing the appearance of redness and vascular lesions, such as rosacea and broken capillaries, resulting in a more balanced skin tone.

Treats Acne and Acne Scars

Lumecca IPL can effectively target and reduce active acne and minimise the appearance of acne scars, promoting clearer and smoother skin.

Quick and Efficient Treatment

Sessions are relatively quick, often lasting about 30 minutes, making it a convenient option for those with busy schedules seeking effective skin rejuvenation.

Lumecca IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) works by emitting a broad spectrum of light into the skin, which is absorbed by pigmented cells and blood vessels. The light energy converts to heat, breaking down excess melanin and coagulating blood vessels, which are then naturally removed by the body. This process targets age spots, sun damage, vascular lesions, and other skin imperfections, promoting a clearer and more even skin tone. Additionally, Lumecca IPL stimulates collagen production, which helps improve skin texture and reduce fine lines and wrinkles

During the session, a cooling gel is applied to the treatment area, and you will wear protective eyewear. The treatment involves a bright flash of light that feels like a light elastic snap. The session usually lasts around 20-30 minutes, depending on the area treated.

There is minimal downtime. After the treatment, you might experience redness and a slight warming of the skin, which usually subsides within a few hours. Pigmented spots may temporarily darken before flaking off over the next week.

Most patients see significant improvement after 1-3 sessions. The exact number of sessions depends on the individual’s skin condition and desired outcomes. Sessions are typically spaced 3-4 weeks apart.

Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning products for at least 4 weeks before the treatment. Use broad-spectrum sunscreen daily and refrain from using retinol or exfoliant products one week prior to the session.

Lumecca IPL is effective for treating skin pigmentation issues, age spots, sun damage, vascular lesions, rosacea, and acne scars. It improves skin tone and clarity, stimulates collagen production, and offers a non-invasive solution with minimal downtime.

Lumecca IPL treatments typically cost £250 per session. This price can vary depending on factors such as the treatment area, and number of sessions needed. Packages are available.

Lumecca treatments are generally well-tolerated and cause minimal discomfort. Patients often describe the sensation as a light snap or rubber band flick. Any mild discomfort is brief and typically subsides shortly after the session.

Lumecca IPL treatments are generally not recommended during pregnancy due to the lack of comprehensive studies on their safety for pregnant women. It’s best to avoid such treatments and consult with a healthcare provider to discuss alternative skincare options during pregnancy.
